Grey Fox Data Destruction

Certified-method data destruction — erased or destroyed, verified, and evidenced. Deleting a file does not delete the data. We sanitise or physically destroy drives, devices, media and cloud data using NIST SP 800-88 methods and ISO/IEC 21964 security levels, and hand you the evidence your regulator, insurer or auditor expects.

What we do

Services

Verified data erasure

Software sanitisation to NIST SP 800-88 Clear and Purge — verified overwrite, ATA/NVMe sanitize and cryptographic erase — so drives can be safely reused or resold. Every drive verified and certified by serial number.

Physical destruction

Shredding, crushing or disintegration of HDDs, SSDs, USB media, phones, tapes and optical media to the ISO/IEC 21964 security level your data classification requires (for example H-5/E-5 for confidential, higher on request).

Degaussing

Magnetic media (hard drives and tape) rendered unreadable. We will tell you plainly when degaussing is the wrong tool — it does nothing to SSDs and flash, which need sanitize, crypto-erase or physical destruction.

On-site witnessed or off-site

Destroy on your premises while you watch, or we collect under a sealed, logged chain of custody and destroy at a controlled facility.

Device decommissioning & asset register

Serial capture, inventory, data-bearing-component identification (including the drives inside printers, copiers, NAS and point-of-sale kit people forget) and a per-asset record.

Cloud & SaaS data deletion

Verified deletion or cryptographic shredding of cloud storage, backups, snapshots and SaaS tenants at contract end, with evidence for your records.

Confidential paper

Documents and archives shredded to ISO/IEC 21964 P-levels alongside your media.

Compliant disposal routing

Destroyed media and electronics routed through licensed WEEE treatment channels, with the disposal paperwork returned to you.

Questions

Before you ask

Which standards do you work to?

NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 1 defines the method (Clear, Purge or Destroy) and ISO/IEC 21964 defines the physical security level of the destruction. The evidence we produce is what UK GDPR's storage-limitation, security and accountability duties require you to be able to show. For public-sector or contractual requirements we work to the level you specify.

Erase or destroy?

If the device will be reused or sold, verified erasure (Purge) is cheaper and greener. If the drive is failing, encrypted with a key nobody holds, or the classification demands it, destroy it. SSDs and phones cannot be degaussed — they are sanitized, crypto-erased or physically destroyed.

Can we watch?

Yes. On-site witnessed destruction is available, and you can also receive photographs and the serial-matched certificate for every item.

Is a certificate enough for an audit?

The certificate together with the asset register and chain-of-custody record is exactly what a regulator, insurer or ISO auditor expects to see. It is your accountability record — keep it with your data-protection documentation.

What happens to the waste?

Destroyed media and electronics go to licensed WEEE treatment and recycling channels, and you receive the disposal documentation. Nothing goes in general waste.
